2023 | Establishment of a Chair in Gender Studies with a focus on digitalisation

With the appointment of Bianca Prietl as Professor of Gender Studies specialising in digitalisation, the University of Basel has broadened its Gender Studies programme to include a focus on the social sciences and the humanities. Prietl’s research centres on critical feminist perspectives on digitalisation, datafication and the relationship between technology and gender as a power dynamic. The newly created professorship reflects both the growing interest in gender studies and the faculty’s cross-disciplinary focus on digitalisation.
