"Telling the Truth: Thinking Objectivity as Questions of Justice"

Call for Participation: Masterclass with Karen River Barad
Karen River Barad will hold a masterclass on "Telling the Truth: Thinking Objectivity as Questions of Justice" on April 4, 2025 at the Center for Gender Studies.
In this masterclass, Karen River Barad starts with the roots of feminist science studies and tackles the question of objectivity and truth. Why were these questions crucial then and why are they still important now? We will consider in detail how the notion of objectivity is figured in agential realism.
In preparation for this class, we will read two chapters (chapters 3 & 4) of Barad's Meeting the Universe Halfway (2007).
If you are a graduate student (master, doctoral) or a post-doc and you would like to participate, please send a one-page motivation letter (why do you want to participate, what are you interested in, what is your research on, 2-3 questions you would like to ask) to ggsb-genderstudies@clutterunibas.ch until Thursday, 20th March.
Karen River Barad’s participation is cooperatively hosted by the Center for Gender Studies, University of Basel, and by the Institute Art Gender Nature, Basel Academy of Art and Design, University of Applied Sciences and Arts Northwestern Switzerland:
