2020 | Establishment of the Joint Chair in Cultural Anthropology and Gender Studies

The University of Basel has filled the newly created joint professorship in Cultural Anthropology and Gender Studies through a job-sharing arrangement between Marion Schulze and Alain Müller, who have both taken up their posts as assistant professors (on a tenure track). The professorship brings together two previously separate fields and is designed to foster close collaboration between Gender Studies and Cultural Anthropology. It focuses on questions of culture, gender and global interconnections in a digitalised and mobile world, as well as ethnographic research into transnational networks, subcultures and social practices.

Both positions have since been made permanent following a positive evaluation.
