2011 | Anniversary: ‘Gender Studies at the University of Basel: 10 Years and Counting’

The Centre for Gender Studies at the University of Basel celebrated its tenth anniversary in 2011, marking the occasion with numerous events and commemorative lectures. Since its foundation in 2001, it has established itself as an integral part of the university and has had a lasting impact on gender studies through teaching, research projects, Bachelor’s and Master’s programmes, and a research training group. The anniversary provided an opportunity to look back and, at the same time, to discuss current challenges facing gender studies. This was followed by the international conference ‘Reframing Gender, Reframing Critique’, which focused on the further development of gender studies in the context of global social change.
